  • The special effects in Spider-Man 3 may be the best I have ever seen. Sure, Pirates had great effects, but there were points in SM3 where there were effects and I didn't even realize it. Usually I can identify effects, and I am often "taken out of the movie." But with SM3, for the first time, I really didn't actually notice the effects, even though I knew they were there. Amazing job!

Sandman is the best CGI character I have ever seen. (Davy Jones is the second, and King Kong is third)

  • No, it's Houdini.

  • I watched it and got the same feeling I did watching The Mummy; That they spent too long working on it and forgot to look at real sand. Its good, I can see how its done, its clever but I really believe they could have done a better job. Grains of sand are not dull rocks but shiny, fractured silica that glint and change in the light. This looks flat and dead. Don't flame me, go look at sand, not 'dirt'! :o)

  • lol one of my lecturers loves using Houdini, he's actually going to set someone up with a job if they learn it. But yeah, I love this scene in Spiderman 3!

  • they used maya lolz

  • 3:20, Just go to the beach....

  • I love that scene

  • @joshisakiller He's up there, too.

  • @MaximumMadnessStixon what about optumis prime :D

  • I think that the special effects of SM3 are out of this world! No one did this before, and I'm sure that it has influenced the evolution of VFX!

  • Easily depicted as one of the most emotional scenes in media history. And coming from an effects absesor like me, thats saying something.

10 out of 10 in my book.

  • @danielodors Yeah, I noticed that too. I think I might give it a try. Gonna have to get Thinking Particles for 3DS Max 2009 first :D
