This is my daughter's 3rd grade presentation on the solar system. Her planet was Mercury. It's not super exciting to watch but may be informational to someone else learning about Mercury.
If mercury would be beyond the earth we couldn´t see it at the nightsky, because it is an inner planet. Inner planets are orbiting at the dayside. So, your pictures are false, because the background is black. It would be different, if the earth would be a cell, but this would mean, that moon and mercury are similar
Thanks for the helpful info. She got her data from library books and the internet (children's sites) on her own.
