Together, a Family Chp. 5

Fast footsteps sounded from the hallway, then the door flew open. Joe and Kevin were looking around frantically, breathing slightly heavier than usual. Maybe I shouldn't have yelled.

I felt pressure on my lap, and looked down to see that Michelle had placed her head on my thigh, still on her stomach. I ran my hand through her hair as two shocked gasps sounded from my brothers.

"What h-happened?" Joe asked in a shakey voice. Michelle didn't answer, so I did.

"Mr. Nason hit her," I told them. "Kevin? Can you grab my lotion from my room?"

"It's still on the dresser right?" he asked, taking a step toward the door. I nodded, and he walked out.

Joe took a hesitant step toward the bed, and sat down on the edge. He reached out slowly, and placed his hand on one of the welts on Michelle's back. She jumped slightly and tensed, but relaxed when Joe ran his cold fingers over it lightly.

"Here," Kevin said, suddenly appearing beside me.

I moved Michelle so that she was laying in front of me, her head on Joe's lap. Kevin held her hand and said, "Squeeze when it hurts."

I put some lotion in my hand, then gently began to rub it on her bottom. I felt her tense, heard her cry out, and saw her, out of the corner of my eyes, squeeze Kevins hand. Joe ran his fingers through her hair. I rubbed lotion over her bottom, thighs, and the stripes on her back. When I finished, I pulled her panties and pants up.

Joe placed her on his lap, and she curled up into his chest. She looked over at me. "Thankyou," she said quietly.

"Your welcome," I answered, putting the lotion on her side table.

"Why do you have lotion? I though it was for girls?" she asked. I chuckled.

"I have it for after a punishment," I told her.

"P-Punishment?" She stuttered out.

"Spanking," Kevin corrected me.

"But...you're too old to get spanked," she said.

"No he's not. We both get them," Joe told her.

"A-Are you gonna hit me like Mr. Nason?"

"There's a difference between what we will do and what he did. We will spank you because we love you and want you to learn right from wrong. He just wanted to hurt you," Kevin said.

"Can you tell us? Tell us what happened?" I asked. She nodded, taking a deep, shakey breath.

"When I turned six, beatings began when I was bad. Mr. Nason gave them to everyone, but I got them the most. Somethimes he would beat me just for coughing at the table, or not saying 'sir'. But that's not all he did.

"He touched me. He tould me I couldn't tell anyone, not even Mrs. Nason, or he would beat me so badly that I would be b-bleeding.He touched me in places that my school said were private to only ourselves. He never raped me, but I think he wanted too."

Tears filled my eyes as I listened to the hardships my little sister had to endure. Kevin and Joe's mouths were hanging open slightly. How could this had happened to her? It was all our fault.

A silence fell over us after she finished, then she asked the question the three of us were dreading, "Where's our parents."

"T-They...T-They died in a c-car crash a few days ago," I said, my tears flooding over. She looked over at me, fresh tears in her eyes.

"T-They're gone?" she asked in a broken tone.

I nodded. She turned her face into Joe's chest, and a loud sob erupted from her. It was breaking my heart to here this. Kevin held out his arms to Joe, and Joe handed the bawling little girl to him.

"Shhhh, baby, we're here. We'll get through this...together, a family."
