@t3tsubo Also because in your forehand corner (right-handed player) when you slice left to right (or in to out) the shuttle tends to travel outwards, towards the side line, thus getting it even farther away from your rival, whereas right to left (out to in) sends the shuttle slightly towards the center, therefore bringint it closer to your rival.

I've played badminton for 4 years now :I

@t3tsubo actually you can slice both ways depending on from where the shuttle comes...you have to slice in the opposite direction for an accurate spinning net shot, but that isn't easy everytime. even professional players mostly slice one direction ;D
but "smashmaster's" comment is right too

@t3tsubo because the shuttle wont land straight, the opponent needs to wait for it to 'settle' (wait for it to get lower, hence cant smash it back) and it buys you time to position yourself for it. also because if you racquet is at an angle you can draw your opponent closer to the net as a feint and lob it back at will without giving you intentions away ;)

can someone tell me why its better to slice left to right instead of right to left for a tight net?

because its your forehand side and with left to right your moving the racquet away from the net as opposed to towards it which could inadvertenly make the shuttle go further than tighter.
