"If I Loved You" was, as Shirley Jones has stated, her all-time favorite song, and "Carousel", as Richard Rodgers often mentioned, was his favorite musical among his many collaborations with Oscar Hammerstein II. And justifiably so, as done in the movie in which it will probably never be performed better, with Shirley and the magnificent voice of Gordon MacRae. This song should live forever...there are very few that are more beautiful.

  • A love-song from the past. As teenager I was singing this all day long.......

    You are a real Westerncowboysinger.

And you can reach the high notes well.

    Sensitive song. Well done John!

  • I'm in my 40s, but when it comes to appreciating and enjoying music, I'm years older than that. I grew up listening to the music of Perry Como, The Brothers four, The Lettermen, etc. This is the kind of music that I just loved to listen to and sometimes loved to sing while enjoying strumming and plucking my guitar (with a little bit of struggle) back then in my moment of solitude at night. This is pure music and pure artist. Thanks for keeping this music alive on You Tube.

  • Excellent! You are in good company, along with Elvis, Jo Stafford, Vic Damone, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como et al.
