Butch Ross performing the Richard Thompson song "1952 Vincent Black Lightning," on mountain duclimer at Kentucky Music Week. I don't know if you can see it, but he broke two strings during this song.

  • If I didn't know any better I'd say the broken was meant to be a part of the song, like it was slowing you down and needed to get rid of it to go faster! Very inspiring, thanks.

  • LOL! I'll take that. Thanks!

  • Wonderful!

As someone thring to learn the appalacian dulcimer in the UK I'd crawl over broken glass for the tabs on this!

  • Email me, I'll send it to ya. You know about Nonsuch's Launde Abbey weekend in Oct. right? I'll be over there Oct. 1-11

  • Lovely to to hear a dulcimer version of what is becoming a classic song.

  • Thank you too. And everybody else who's posted below. I appreciate it.

  • YOU SOUND BETTER THAN I DO WITH SIX STRINGS . IMPRESSIVE !! LOVED IT !! SHOWING WHAT A DULCIMER CAN DO IN THE RIGHT HANDS !!

  • Saturday night at the nursing home all-right! Ha Ha! Actually a nice version

  • Saturday night at the nursing home all-right!

  • Exquisitely beautiful for the 100th time. Thank you so much.

  • A much better cover of Richard Thompson's song than Del McCoury's "Hee Haw" arrangement and awful vocals!

  • Wow, on a dulcimer. Fantastic.

  • After the second string broke-you were like,"F--- it, let's see if I can break the rest!" Great Stuff!

  • Correction to my last post: make those times 1:47 and 4:04, I guess.

  • Heard one string pop maybe around 1:50? The one at 4:07 was amazing---how does one pop a middle string?

Brilliant performance before and after the accidents!

  • keep on playin' and easy on the strings!!!
