@MatthewFarmer47 @DriveNstroll ...what about getting into sports massage, rehab places up here (bc, canada) often have need of male therapists...guys in sports seems to think the male therapists are "better" ie. stronger. Most of the male therapists i know are doing quite well, but in clinical environments more than spas

@DriveNstroll Well, what exactly do you want to know? I can tell you that I worked at a Salon that had a staff of only women. I was the first and only male to work there for quite some time. To me it seemed more like a sorority house instead of a legitimate business. Sometimes people had no problem with a male, but other times it was a problem. Sometimes it is all about location and I found that this time it was location. I definitely didn't belong there.

@every1luvzkk That doesn't sound right completely. There must be places to work where you get paid at least 17 dollars an hr.

@MatthewFarmer47 Tell me more.. I havent even passed the license test and I graduated school in 2010. I did pretty well in class with the hands on almost like I had good potential as a therapist but I havent even got anything started. I am starting to wonder if my schooling was a waste of money sometimes.

I have worked in a spa, hospital and independently. Spas will work you til you fall over- you might pull in nearly 30g but you can't work the hours for more than 7-15 months(avereage turnover time) and are forced to pressure your relaxed clients to buy retail!!! Medical offers Great benefits but, low pay and ZERO flexibility if corporate. Working alone pays magnificent when you get clients and obviously pays nothing when you are not busy ): A lot to consider....rewarding work for sure (:

As a male massage therapist I believe I have trouble in this field. I have come across people feeling uncomfortable. This is why I hate spa settings now. I want to stick to medical settings, but if I do my own business I have no idea how to go about it.

I am currently enrolled at Everest College in Reseda. I am so sick of people badmouthing the campus. I have wonderful instructors and do everything they can to help every step of the way. They are really good at assisting all the students as much help as possible. It is the students that don't come to class, don't study and are late that don't succeed. I also did not go into this expecting a lot of money, I got into this field to help people. You get out of it what you put in it.
