  • this type of weapon seems realy usefull against an armed opponent.

as a beginner of kenjitsu, and jojitsu I can imagine getting entagled and in trouble quickly.

however, vs an unarmed opponent, its seems a difficult weapon to use.

(not counting striking with weighted ends, or using kama)

  • Amazing display of the art. It's so dynamic and the practitioners have a great display of distance and timing. I've always been impressed with the kusarigama. :D

  • In Shizen Ryu Dojo, we train in these devices also, so it was great to watch this feature. The techniques have a great sense of timing and fluidity. The kusari gama is a very interesting and versatile weapon. The Ogawa Ryu practitioners really bring it to life here. Thank you for sharing :-D

  • Seems reasonable to just say "chain arts" though. Language is meant to be freeeeee.

  • well in this video we see Kusarigama waza (or jutsu) and Kusarifundo waza (or jutsu). Probably why they just abreviated it to "Kusari jutsu" (Kusari = chain)... But Kusarigama and Kusarifundo are 2 distinct weapons: Kusarigama is a Sickle with a chain, and Kusarifundo is a chain with weight on its ends...

  • Excellent!

  • This is simply "the art of using the kusari-gama" ... Kusari-Jutsu ... part of Ninjutsu, but not born from it ...

  • do you all do any demos in the US? I would be interested if you do.

  • as Mr. Myagi said, "the easiest way to avoid punch, no be there."

  • well its not really ninjutsu. Ninjutsu its more of a sistem composed by more types of kobujutsu(koryu=old school..old martial arts, bujutsu=techniques of combat-). Kusarijutsu, kusarigamajutsu(there still are couple of ryu who teach those jutsu)and were part of those kobujutsu so part of ninjutsu. But as many of you may already know, many samurais were in secret also ninja...so you get your conclusions...
