Tornadic Storm in Longview, TX on December 23, 2009

NOTE: The "funnel" is not visible in this video, which was filmed while the tornado was produced nearby. Emergency broadcasts were unable to confirm the exact location of the tornado until several minutes after this video was recorded.

This storm was considered a PDS and produced a large wedge tornado. Power flashes and debris were being reported during the filming of this video and damage in Eastern Longview and along the path of the tornado was documented. This tornado was only one of seven tornadoes that touched down across East Texas on December 23, 2009 (in addition to a tornado touchdown in Louisiana and another in Arkansas).

Tornado Strength: EF2 (winds estimated at 110-120mph)
Width: 200 yards
Path Length: 7 miles
Time on Ground: 17 minutes

The Longview tornado caused significant tree and structure damage to industrial buildings and homes in its path.

It was about 6 blocks in front of my house in Longview Heights. I was standing outside watching it like an idiot. It was so beatutiful, but so scary at the same time.

I remember this day..... I had just walked out the door to go to work when i saw the funnel cloud overhead.... Went back inside and hunkered down as the twister hit buildings about 1/4 mile away. That's the closest I ever wish to come to a twister.

i was on the loop right past walmart when the tornado was on the ground, As close to a tornado as i would ever care to be.

My brother lives in Longview so I was worried about him when I heard of this.
