Wow. It's amazing just how disgusting the US meat market is. The blood thing really is bad, especially when the US has been getting on Canada's case about BSE. We banned the practice of using any animal byproducts in animal feed due to disease control concerns.

I cant say as I've ever seen a lot like this before, either. We do have feedlots, but they're heavily regulated because of the large amounts of manure they produce, and the cows aren't raised there, just 'finished' for a few months.

the US really needs to put in some higher standards about the food system

outlawing the growth hormone like europe and canada have would be a good start. or making it illegal to give animals antibiotics with their food
