David Copperfield vanishes the Statue of Liberty in front of a live audience on Liberty Island. No camera tricks were used and this was first featured in his 5th television The Magic of David Copperfield V: Vanishing the Statue of Liberty.
This illusion is listed by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest disappearance ever performed by a magician.

There wasn't, there was also ariel shots.
If you watch the origional video, which is about 10 minutes long, he also has poleroid camera take photo's every 5 seconds from when the statue appears and disappears.

yeah i hate seeing magic tricks on tv or the internet or wherever cuz they can just edit the footage however they want. Seeing tricks like this live and in person would be amazing though. BTW, shoutout to Listverse, thats what linked me to this video :P

I agree, its always better in person, but I can assure you all of David Copperfield tricks are performed live and do not use camera tricks.
