Update: Actress Jeri Ryan, the actress portraying Sonya Blade in the video, has confirmed via Twitter (http://bit.ly/bkYNWP) that this is a short film created by a director to sell Warner Bros. on his Mortal Kombat pitch. "It's not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film," Ryan says on her Twitter page, adding " I did it as a favor to a friend. No idea yet what WB's reaction to it was." Thanks to Zimnick for pointing us towards Jeri's updates!

@Adestria92 the reason the first two movies sucked is because Paul Anderson was involved. Just look at how he's butchered Resident Evil. The only thing these movies have in common with their original source is a few names and some weak references. Other than that the RE movies are nothing like the games or their original storylines and only serve to employ Mila Jovovich who is, coincidentally, Paul's wife.

Anyone saying "It needs to be like the game" is fucking retarded, If you recall they tried that the first two movies,and they weren't all that great. This is a reboot, thus the characters aren't going to look how they do in the game. I guarantee this movie will blow the first two out of the water, just watch. ;)

@carson21211 I get it, but the themes and settings in the videogame wouldn't be taken seriously on the big screen. Street Fighter was a bag of flaming dog crap, but I see potential in this. The idea is to make their origins seem plausible. Although I thought Baraka (who's *Tarkatan and was BORN with sharp teeth, voracious features and arm blades, he did not go under the knife) looked more like Kabal + his in-game stats don't exactly translate to a fighter with the cunning/precision of a surgeon.
