Turnpike crash video released

Dash cam video from Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper Tommy Alexander's cruiser was recently released.

The video captures the few moments before a Fed-Ex semi-tractor trailer careened into Trooper Alexander's cruiser, and a minivan he had pulled over on the Ohio Turnpike in Williams County.

The state trooper can be seen standing next to the minivan seconds before the semi plows into the cruiser.

The 41-year-old state officer, was stopped along the west bound side of the turnpike, near milepost 13, conducting a routine traffic stop. The force of the impact hurled him over a guardrail into a ditch.

Trooper Alexander survived the crash.

The driver of the semi, 53-year-old Patricia Chapman of Murchison, Texas, was cited with failure to move over for a stopped emergency vehicle and a marked lane violation.
