A collection of clips I didn't feel belonged in, or would have slowed down, my main airshow video. Catalina landing and taxiing, P-47 ground running engine.

  • @pete2778 you are so right sorry i shoud have known my dad was picked up in onw during ww2

  • @xxkil. Most versions of the Catalina were 'amphibians' and the sponsons (or tip floats, more accurately, as they are not technically 'sponsons') were retractable. If you look carefully at the wingtips as it lands, you'll notice that the wingtips are fatter and have a boat hull shaped profile. The tip floats were kept retracted during all phases of flight except taxying/mooring, taking off from or landing on water.

  • that catalina will never fly on water again it,s had it,s sponsens taken off

  • SWEET PBY.

  • . . beautiful plane, great video . .

  • Catalina is the second awesome seaplane (next to Martin Mars)

  • Was the other PBY not there the one with the civvie reg G-PBYA, the white one. That P47, i got the Corgi model of that exact plane ' No Guts, No Glory' its called
