What does not apply to them is this private corporate policy, as they recognise it clearly as a contract and they know this system well and are more than familiar with contract law, the law of tort, etc. needed to know how not to enter into such contracts from the start. The "law" does apply to them, as it applies to everyone as per the maxim of law "It is paramount and mandatory that are all equal before the law". The problem is, the rest of us have been subjected to private corporate policies they name "legislation" and brainwash us into calling "law" in plain English whilst they themselves always maintain a clear distinction between the two through use of words such as but not limited to "law", "legislation", "legal", "lawful", "illegal", "unlawful", etc.
"plebs" is a Latin word and simply means "the populace" or "the contracting citizens" and is, in fact, restricted to defining specific members of Society, ie. those who are not stripped of their freedom, liberty and rights via process of "capitis diminutio". That means very few people because most are subject to capitis diminutio unbeknown to themselves and their votes are nothing but statistical research data! FACT!
Anyway, "legal / illegal" has nothing to do with it because Common Law covers claims of harm / damage, so it's "UNLAWFUL" forget "illegal"! Legislation are a load of nonsense contracts you don't have to conform to anyway because your consent is only taken before the time of arrest when the policeman reads the charges and then says "Do you understand?", ie. "Do you stand under (these charges)?". MP's know this and so they do not contract and police leave them alone most of the time!
Nonsense! Why is it called the "House of COMMONS" then? Aren't the "Commons" supposed to be members of the "PUBLIC" who represent the "PUBLIC" in Parliament according to their own claims? Also, i was under the impression the legislation covers work places too and since there are many of them in Parliament who do not smoke, as in any workplace there will most likely always be some who do and some who don't, how is this "legal"?
Smoking is only illegal in public buildings such as pubs. IIRC, the Strangers' Bar is open to MPs and their guests only, therefore is not a public place. If the people in charge want to allow smoking, they're quite within their rights legally.
