  • Mr. President, how much discretionary spending is in our budget? Is that amount more or less than our revenue shortfall? We simply don't have to spend money for non obligatory items? Clearly we don't have the money. In my company and my family, if I don't have cash and can't get it, I have to reduce my spending. The situation is more complicated in our country. However it is only complicated by special interests and their interest on our elected officials. Do the right thing, cut spending!

  • Yes but the Republicans are doing so in the spirit of what the Debt Limit was intended for and that law was passed by the Great Legislature that included Senator Reid's vote himself. And if something isn't done about Medicare, and government spending, the result will be much worse than a bond market crash.

  • Voice vote for a one page extension of the debt limit just like Lawrence O'Donnell said a long time ago.

Very simple. Then you may resume the rhetoric and lobbying that most of us don't see or hear.
