This song was inspired by Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha that I recently reread after it was recommended here on Delcamp by a few of our members. In the book, Siddhartha is profoundly influenced by the river and becomes a metaphor for the "stream of life." He discovers that life is connected in a constant, unified flow that leads him to the serenity of knowledge.

  • Very nice. I am a beginner guitar player. I've had my guitar less than a year. At this time I have only an acoustic steel string. I'd hoped the conservatory would offer summer classes, but I was disappointed. If they did, I would buy a classical. It's fascinating to watch your hands. It will be a while before I can play good music. I'm still learning the basics.

  • @writeDVD Like anything worthwhile learning, it takes time and a lot of practice but the key, IMHO, is to enjoy the journey.

  • You wrote this? Beautiful. Thank you.

  • @writeDVD

Yes, this is one of my compositions. Thanks for watching.

  • Hi Vito: I had the luck of crossing that river in India, Niranjana River, which the Buddha crossed so many years ago. But now unfortunately the river is dry so I crossed it by walking!

  • Interesting. Well at least there was no chance of drowning. LOL

Thanks, kumgang, for watching and responding.

could you offer me any tips on composing on the classical guitar? how do you do it? sit down with the manuscript paper? come up with a melody and then harmonize it? noodle about ?

    any books you recommend

    thanks for any info!

  • Right. Now you can only get stucked in the mud...LOL. You're welcome Vito.

  • Thank you! It's a shame you lost all of his books.

  • Wonderful... I love Hesse, used to own all of his writings before my books were destroyed in a war. Your music is beautifully reminding me of Sidarta.

    Thanks
