1957 1957 Alexander Mackendrick production of a brilliant, searing script by Clifford Odets and Ernest Lehmann about a powerful, and ruthless columnist J.J. Hunsecker (Burt Lancaster) and gutter-crawling press agent (Tony Curtis). Many consider this the best performances by two great actors. James Wong Howe's cinematography is outstanding. Music by Elmer Bernstein. Here on the streets of New York, Curtis finally gets Lancaster's attention, and lets it be known how low he will go to curry favor with the city's most powerful force. A great performance from Curtis matched by a brilliant one from Lancaster.
