@ihaveairlockers You have your own opinion, and those parents where probably complete idiots. A 6 week old baby doesn't eat meat nor animal milk most of the time they only drink the mothers milk. A mothers milk is vegan, and there is nothing wrong with it. Vegan's are not scum nor are they an epic fail it's a way of life that one can take. We don't have to eat meat to live I have been vegan all my life, and I am just fine.

It's great to see the vegan parents who inflicted this scourge of a disease on their 6 week old baby who died sent to prison for the remainder of the term of their natural life.
A child has no choice and it is WRONG to inflict veganism on an innocent child. Being a vegan is DUMB and unhealthy for the mind and body. You can be healthy and eat meat too. Vegans tend to think that if a person is against veganism then they must be 250kg and only eat McDonalds.
Vegan = Epic Fail.
Vegan = Scum !!!

Why don't you cram Christianity down your kids' throats too while you're at it? And roll up the windows in the car while you smoke and listen to music they hate?
Your child may not want to be vegan. Making the choice to avoid meat should be something that is made at the age of 18, not during infancy. Shame on you. I hope somebody punches you in the gut.

@kgriffithg heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes can all be prevented by moderation in eating and avoiding weird stuff like high fructose corn syrup. Its not about being vegan at all.
The only real benefits of a vegan diet are the environmental ones. In 3 years a cow would eat about 2-4 tons of grain. This will produce a 400kg cow with 250kg of meat. 3 tons of rice has more than 10 times more energy than 250kg meat.
So what would you grow to feed as many people as possible?

I don't believe you read the book, because your basic synopsis of it is incorrect. It also has hundreds of citations of scientific studies, did you read each of those? I agree with Lierre Keith that industrial farming's effect on the environment is indeed very negative. This is also outlined in the Omnivore's Dilemma or other books. Part of why, however, is because the excess supply of plants (mostly corn) is used to feed animals, which are used to feed us. Processed food is also a huge culprit.

@kgriffithg Wow you attack spelling, what a genius. I didn't realize you would take marks off or i'd have checked my grammar ;) "read into it" actually meant read it and researched what they claimed, i dont take things at face value like most people on here. The China study is flawed, it tested on animals that would never eat or are not meant to eat what they gave them, if you cant handle that its your hang up, you keep believing what you are told. Try a book by Lierre Keith (20 year vegan)

@SensibleStan I have a hard time seriously accepting any argument from someone who doesn't know how to spell "ridiculous" or "herbivores." LOL! Did you actually read the book? What do you mean you "read into" it? As the China Study explains, it isn't just eating animals that have eaten rendered animals (a disgusting truth exposed in the book "Mad Cowboy"), it is also eating fish, dairy, or any animal protein that causes the health issues I mentioned. The book is very well documented.

@kgriffithg I am a Vegetarian but honestly this isn't a good argument I read into "The China Study" and seriously it is very silly for the most part, they force fed meat to animals that were herbivors and then when those developed problems took it as proof meat is bad. Its rediculous as the carnivorous and omnivorous animals didn't get the health problems, it was a mockery, as veggies we see the results and don't look into the data collected we just see it had the results to backup our theories.

@rawksdesambas your point is understandablle and true, however, mosst veggans become vegan for the bonus of good health; therefore you will find tthat many vegans do not smoke or constantly ppig out on junk food.
Vegans, not all, as you have stated, but the majority are very conscious of what they consume.

Have you read "The China Study?" There is a massive amount of scientific evidence that a vegan diet helps prevent heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and even cancer. It is also far better for the environment. Don't be ignorant, get informed!

@OverGryph Most children are fed meat and are not aware of the cruelty to animals to produce the meat, many would not even connect it as coming from an animal, so brainwashed they are. Not to mention the health detriments- the saturated fats, the increased risk of cancers and heart disease. Don't say we didn't warn you when your heart gives way prematurely.
