@PulkaSkurken You're right! I got it totally backwards, sorry about that one. Just read up more about both breeds and I agree with your statement. Since the dogs are dominant though, it seems like they need to be the only dog in a family if your other dogs is a dominant breed also. If the other dog is not dominant it should be OK. That is similar to my situation already, I have one very dominant dog and one very laid back dog so it works.
@theturk1sh I looked into both those breeds a while ago. It depends on your lifestyle / family. If you have kids, I'd go with the giant schnauzer. Both breeds will protect your house but the schnauzer are better with kids. If you dont have kids, it's a toss up. I grew up down the street from a BRT and they are very intimidating and get huge. Both are good in cold climate also.
@bonddustin ...any breed requires lots of work. But agree this is not first time pet owner breed. The are not Teddy Bears. They are prison guards. You will need invest time in training before they guard you 100% of the time
@theturk1sh If you're comparing these two dogs, I would suggest you do more research. Though BRT's and Giant Schnauzer's are similar in looks, they are incredibly different in temperament, energy, size, etc... BRT's do well with small animals and children, GS's at times have issues with smaller animals, BRT's do not need, GS does. Make sure you understand what you're signing up for. I have a BRT 18-month old. Great dog, but has required lots of work and expensive upkeep.
