This is a counterpoint to Pepsi's "Big Town USA" commercial from the same campaign, featuring scenes of life in a small rural town.

From Pepsi's 1969-1972 "You've got a lot to live. Pepsi's got a lot to give," campaign. The campaign was the beginning of the most inclusive period in Pepsi's advertising history. Commercials featured young, old, very young and various races, in big cities, small towns and heartland farms. emphasizing family, togetherness and fun activities in the great outdoors. They were all the Pepsi Generation that was to change the rules. Before that, Pepsi commercial characters had been getting gradually younger, but always featured a single age group at a time, first in their 30s and 40s and later in their 20s.

  • Thumbs up if the Torg sent you here

  • Like Warhohl one can see art in this popular medium. Both visual art and music. The best thing it has though is some indefinable capturing of the mood and the popular culture of the time. There are other good examples like the Have You Driven a Ford Lately commercials but Pepsi captured it best of all.

  • Can anyone maybe at JWT ideentify the black-sounding voice-over artist?

  • BTW Thanks so much Macinvent.

It took me a whole hell of a lot of work to get this supreme spot onto my homepage a few years ago.

A real cheer-upper...I was part of 1967-1979 pop culture myself. Partied with Hendrix (August 1, 1968) my FM station kicked off 24/7 album rock with his concert. No entourage. All his clothes custom-made like on "Are You Experienced. He sent me out to buy papers. I was so stoned and starstruck he finally said to me "Don't stare at me like that man."

  • Used to listen to this jingle on 77WABC at night. Can anyone identify the black-sounding voiceover artist on this spot?

  • my guys!

  • This reminds me of The Tree of Life for some reason. Fantastic commercial.

  • IT WAS LIKE THIS WHEN I GREW UP BACK THEN ! THIS COUNTRY HAS GONE TO HECK IN A HANDBASKET, TO SAY IT POLITELY! ! IT WAS MUCH BETTER IN MANY WAYS!! OHIO 1974 AND 1975 ----- KICK ASS!

  • I was thrilled to find this on Youtube...I really DID grow up in Smalltown, USA...this commercial was filmed in my hometown of Westerville, Ohio, when I was in high school...and there were also scenes from the Ohio State Fair.

  • @1967mustanggta Yes, even though this is clearly a fantasy, all commercials are, we have as a nation become uglier. I'm not sure if it because our leaders have led us down this path or we have chosen the worst aspects of our nature. Glad to see someone hates tattoos and mean ass dogs as much as I do.
