@Bazajt both tv.com and wiki say otherwise, even though the first question is about Britain. In the early series they didn't stick to just the one overall topic. As you'll see in the deleted scenes, not uploaded yet, Alan and Stephen get into quite a discussion about bibles.

If you're referring to the comment he makes at 5:20, I think it's a joke on Amsterdam (where Jeremey said he was, in a brothel) having coffeeshops and that would mean it always smells of weed there.
