An unearthed rare recording ( a home recorder, no sound monitors or sound board) of the Delaware Super Group "Candy" performing live April 1970 at the Satellite Lounge in South Jersey. This group had members from Five of the top rock groups in Delaware during the late 60's who were consistantly winners of many of the "Battle of the Bands" in the Region at that time. They were: "Sounds Unlimited", The Elusion", Mister's Virtue, "A Matter of Time" and the "Menagerie". They had their auspicious debut at "Bayshores Club" in Somers Point, NJ during the Memorial Day Weekend in 1969. Also playing across the street at "Tony Mart" and "The Dunes" all that summer. Being introduced to this Jersey Shore music world by Ray Sharp of "Joey Dee and the Starlighters" fame who had them recorded at the old "Parkway Studio" on South Broad Street in Philadelphia by the renown recording enginneer Joe Tarsia. Playing along with "Johnny Caswell and the Crystal Mansion" ( Colombia Recording Artist ) at "Bayshores" exposed them to an older music crowd that got them to play extensively at clubs throughout the Philadelphia and South Jersey area. A short list of some of these clubs are "The Wreck Room", "Al Joe's", "Satellite Lounge', "Continental Surfari Lounge" "Towne House Tavern" "Melody Lounge", Adriatic Club" and the "Steer and Stein" in the Main Line and of coarse the Jersey Shore Clubs .. Bayshores, Tony Marts, The Dunes, The White House Tavern in Margate and the Carosel Club in Wildwood just to name a few. Those who remember seeing them live at that time were exposed to one of the most powerful and dynamic rock groups to play the Philadelphia and Jersey Shore club Circuit . Please enjoy these recordings as they are the first of many songs to be unearthed of "Candy" 40 years after they stormed the Philadelphia/Jersey Shore Region.
