Chuck was, among other things, a DEVISOR of game shows - not a host. But when Laugh-In's Garry Owens failed to score as The Gong Show's host, Chuck stepped in - and it became all about HIM. And so here are all of HIS bits from a top segment, telescoped together. Chuckie-Baby WAS The Gong Show!

  • Didn't this guy commit suicide?...Don't remember the story of what happend

  • @Midnightryder7 - NO!!! Happily, he's now 81 and STILL GOING STRONG.

  • Why $760.32? I guess they didn't do round figures on this show.

  • @JGCooney The original strange top winner amount of $564.32 was the Screen Actors Guild pay wage amount for a day's work after taxes.

  • @artytoons - THANK you for that information. I'd always assumed it was just a random amount, for the sake of comedy. It never occurred that it was based on something REAL. Once again, thank you.

  • @JGCooney - see above!

  • @Midnightryder7 the movie confessions of a dangerous mind will answer u!!

  • "Jp Morgone!! Why did you gong him you 'scule"..."516.32" may have been a SAGs day's pay, but the mere fact that the numbers AREN'T rounded is what makes it so rediculous and funny

  • @cindyshealed As entitled - this is CHUCK BARRIS.

  • We used to rush home from school to see the gong show :D

  • Ed Marinara = Saucy AND Delicious!

  • Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I vaguely remember watching I love the 70s on VH1 about 7 years ago and Hal Sparks from Queer as Folk made the insinuation that as the show wore on there was greater evidence of Chuck's cocaine use...I can't seem to find anything to substantiate those claims though. Chuck may have said he worked for the CIA but I can't find where he ever did cocaine in vast amounts.

  • @disparatedan The original daytime Gong Show winner check was $516.32. My error. Wikipedia mentioned the amount as the SAG pay amount for one day's worth of work around that period (1976-1980).
