Following the gangland execution of her husband, Bernarda Alba - "the least sympathetic character in the whole of drama" - will do anything to safeguard her family's dubious fortune and the future of her five daughters. Faithfully preserving Federico Garcia Lorca's sense of boiling tension and impending tragedy, a stunning cast of twelve Scottish women bring this classic text thrillingly up to date in a new version by Rona Munro, directed by John Tiffany.

  • I love this play and can't wait to see the new adaptation. :D I didn't realise that the new version was set in Glasgow. (Love how all the names are changed as well eg Adela = Adie).

Do you know if the new versions of the play will be on sale at the performances? Would really like to buy it for myself.

  • Yep, the play texts will be on sale along with a wonderfully informative and insightful programme!

  • One of the schools performed this play for the One Act Play UIL competition. They copied everything from the actual movie; the costumes, the lighting, the scenery, the acting (every gesture), EVERYTHING, and they advanced. The judge was an idiot. You'd think that with 43 years of experience he'd notice something like this.
