I love Rainn Wilson! Timing is everything. Dwight has to be the funniest character of The Office series, Michael comes in at a close 2nd.

Jim & Pams characters represent the audience. The "Are you seeing this??" characters. That's why it's so easy to connect with these characters.
Though it seems like Jim & Pam slowly don't represent the audience anymore. Them getting together, having a baby etc.

@poops1 You sir, are an idiot. Take Dwight's advice on that one, don't be an idiot. John Krasinski has perfected Jim since season 1, has perfect comedic timing, incredible sarcastic subtlety, and some of the funniest moments in the series are his scenes. His pranks on Dwight for example, are the best part of the show.
