Project for Medialogy 6th semester project. This is an expansion on the concept from our original project Game Control Using Webcam Tracking.

In this semester focus has been on possible uses of webcam tracking for rehabilitation and other health related purposes. Our solution is based on the CAMSHIFT headtracker expanded with a calibration and mapping algorithm that takes into account the possibly limited mobility of the user/patient.

The tracker runs in Ansi C using OpenCV's CAMSHIFT colour tracker. The data is sent to PPJoy for easy integration with the game. The game is created in Python using Soya3D and PyGame is used for it's native Joystick support and sound capabilities.

The project is created by Med 6 Group 1:

Jesper Kondrup
Martin S. Jensen
Nicolaj K. Nielsen

  • Hmmm... actually the process is a bit different in 2d compared to 3d. I wouldn't claim to be an expert on the topic but I can't see anything wrong with going straight to 3d.

If you want to start off lightly I've used Blitz3D before and it was very friendly to work with. Soya3D is also nice but lacks documentation. Blitz3d also handles 2d btw.

Gaining some basic knowledge on vectors can be very beneficial too.

  • Genius, I just started game designing and I was wondering, do you think it's better off for me to start making 2d games and work my way up to 3d or begin at 3d?
