  • The original is STILL the best version - depsite being released and remixed and re-released virtually every decade or so since it was released in 1973. It was ectopic.... embryonic and just bursting to be brought into the world...an amazing piece of work by a remarkable, talented and innovative man..... thank God he defied the pundits....... I have the original, heard the errors that have followed...I still come back to the original

  • Many nights spent bent on dope listening to this back in the 80's !!!

  • When this first came out in 73 I was in the army. Helped me through some very heavy times

  • without question mike old feild was light years ahead of the pack in 73 and if you dont

get it then you are really thick as a brick . the music and the movie is a master piece

truly one of a kind. thank you mike

Oh, I don'y know. There are some very subtle effects that you appear unable to appreciate. There is a slow but imperceptible deepening of the darkness from 1:43 to 2:21. Of course the novice viewer would have difficulty discerning the full range of visual emotions that can be brought on as each black pixel layers on its predecessor. The video is very much in the style of late 20th century Moroccan Red with overtones of the imagery induced by a healthy dose of Nepalese Gold.

Everyone's taste differs of course. The subtle variations in the long ostonatto intro to the segment draw me in. the gradual adding of texture adds excitement for me so when the melody finally develops I nearly jump out of my seat--every time. Your mileage may vary, as they say. Where you hear nonsense and repetition, I hear mastery. I humbly suggest (provided you' haven't developed an utter hatred of the piece) that you give it another try.

  • branston made him? and he made branston! big joe.

  • I heard this for the first time RIGHT after it came out in '73 in my high school music history class. I went right out and bought three vinyls, haven't worn them out yet & I still have one in the wrapper! This is a taste of CLASSICAL ROCK at it's FINEST!!!

  • @mcbrett1960 I'm right there with you buddy! :)
