A TRUE story! One that brings out many emotions. FEAR, because this could happen to ANYONE who may be getting or IS getting social security, and disbelief the administration could be so stupid...SAD because sometimes people ARE JUST STUPID, and funny, they had no address and yet sent a letter....
Why bother SENDING a letter if you had no address???

My dear friend received a letter from the social security administration stating they were cutting off his benefits as they had no address for him....
Did I mention he recieved a letter?
Addressed to him??
At HIS address???
YET the administration contacted him (by mail) informing him of his benefit cut.
What if he had never GOT the letter BECAUSE THEY HAD NO ADDRESS FOR HIM???
hummmm.

  • wow that suck then you lose health care and everything

  • Yeah, my poor neighbor. And the kicker, not mentioned in this video, is not only did they say they didn't have his address (in his letter addressed to him)

BUT, my neighbor can't read. So, they would have stopped his benefits and he never would have known why...

  • I have a problem with SSA. I worked three years to get my work credits and SSA sent me a status report that I had the 40 credits required. I applied and was denied because they now said I had 32 credits. I sent them a copy of the statement and my tax forms. That was three month ago and no answer from them yet. I have called several times and was treated so rudely.

  • You will never get anything done over the phone. You will have to waste an entire day and go down to your local social security adminstration.

My neighbor has worked ALL his life, and didn't retire until he was 65. He didn't deserve the treatment he got. Not to mention, he can not read, so his benefits would have STOPPED and he never would have found out why!!! Yes, not only did they send a letter to an address they claimed they didn't have, they sent a LETTER to an illiterate elderly man. :(

  • Oooooh thats bad, sad and sounds like the government.

  • Martha, how did I miss your reply???

    I'm so sorry!

    Just noticed this today ;)

Yes, and if you read the comment AFTER this, you will be even more upset. He has in his file he is illiterate...Yet they sent him a letter. Making this even more scary!

  • LOL, this was going to be the guest room, but somehow all the crates wound up in THAT ROOM.

I don't think guests would like it very much. LOL

  • LLLLOL!!!! Yes, that sure sounds like a government admin... Same thing here in Germany!!! By the way - I LOVE the beagle in the background relaxing on your bed ;-)))

  • Yeah. social security should be called

    "so call insecurity"

  • Well, since Bobby can't communicate on the phone I had to drive him (an hour away) to the social security office, where we spent most of the day waiting in lines and when we finally GOT to the right person, we just showed them the letter, and THAT WE GOT IT because it had HIS ADDRESS ON IT!

He had to show them his ID, which also had his address on it, which was also matched the letter.

The matter was resolved in about five minutes. After spending all day at the social security administration.
