In the third part of the video series from Lowe's Shop Class, you will learn how to assemble the entertaining cart.
To create the bottle shelf, start by cutting the shelf and the rail on the miter saw. Put pocket holes in each end of the shelf. Cut the aluminum edging for each shelf to length. Then, drill holes, put the edging into position, use a self centering bit to drill pilot holes, and attach edging with screws.
To hide the pocket holes on your sides, glue in pocket hole plugs and sand them flat.
Lay one of the sides flat on your work surface, with the pocket holes facing up. To attach the bottom shelf, align it, mark it, glue, and attach with screws.
Take the cross rail for the bottle shelf, measure its position, mark it, apply glue and attach with pocket hole screws.
Line the top up carefully with the bottle dividers over the rail that was just attached. Mark its position, apply glue, and clamp it down securely. Do not screw the top on yet.
Before attaching the other side, make the handles for the cart. Use a 1 inch piece of aluminum. Cut it to length, then take a finishing pad and buff the surface of the aluminum. Remove the aluminum edging you put on earlier, and give it the same finish. Mark each piece's location, and leave them off until after the wood is finished. Slide the handles into place. Then position the other side, using glue and pocket screws. Still leave the top just glued and clamped.
Drill some holes into the side to attach the top. Hide the screws by gluing in some dowels and cutting and sanding the dowel flush to the surface.
To attach the bottle shelf, apply glue to the rail, center your shelf, and clamp it down until it dries.
