Garde Del Avante- Boston Fashion Week S/S 2012

With a credo like "Dare to be different... Dare to be you", Gardé Del Avante (the name riffs off of the French phrase avant-garde) is setting a standard when it comes to jewellery design. The newly launched ground-breaking accessory line founded in September 2010, aims to always go against the grain and create thought provoking creations, challenge the wearer to consider what is considered the "norm". Based in Toronto, designer Naanafya's exclusive and limited-edition designs have been worn by Keshia Chante, Tasha of the Candy Coated Killahz at the 2011 MMVAs, Saidah Baba Talibah, Lauren Elle, new upcoming Canadian sensation Kayla in her video "Step On It" feat. Lil' Jon Divine Brown and Cascada and have been featured in Dress To Kill Magazine, BELLO, Schon, Plaid and Chew Magazine. Her recent collaboration with Rachel Sin at Toronto's Alternative Arts and Fashion Week showcased her talents and pushed forward her point, "We are not conformists but rather advocates for individuality."

With a mission statement, "to empower those who strive to be individuals without inhibition" Gardé Del Avante (GDA) provides "alternative" fashion, to all those who ultimately "dare be different, dare to be [themselves]" through their avant garde design aesthetic that one would say diverges from common culture or what is considered the "norm". GDA's jewellery collection has begun to pave the way for its expected and upcoming success. Their signature style of daringness and playfulness often feature authentic pieces that include feathers and crystals, with the touch of edginess with the incorporation of skulls, and interlocking chains.
