The normal guys are easy once you know their weakness. As nero, whack them with your sword 3 times & on the 3rd strike, you will hear and see them block it with their shield. Immediately use your devil bringer and you should flawlessly counter their move. For example (ps3 default button config) face them & press T, T, T, C in this sequence because on the 3rd strike they WILL block your attack if done continuously with no disruption. Note this doesn't work on the golden ones.

Dont waste your devil trigger bar on those small fryes ,always save it for the bosses
