Scream is right. Here's the spiel for those who won't look it up:

TMoHS has two episode orders, as Tokyo and Scream already said; one being Haruhi, the broadcast, and the other being Kyon, chronologically.

This is the last ep in Haruhi's order, but ep 9 in Kyon's. And for lankykinghasreturned, this was the last ep; there is still no official "second season" as of yet.

This is also my preferred ending =) they wanted the series to end it here, like the last page or a bookmark.

This isnt the last episode this is where she goes all moody and creates a closed space dream and he kisses to wake her up. This is like the 5/6 episode

I also think this suits better as the ending, as it gives the chill for whats next.

There are 2, YES 'TWO', last episode counts. One in broadcast order and one in Haruhi's order and a DVD order of episodes (the DVD's last is the same is Haruhi's).

To make it simple this is the last episode that was aired on TV, while the 'last ep' your talking about was acted as Ep.9.

Sorry to tell you this, but this is actually the last episode...

The order is messed up on most anime sites.

Google Search the episodes summaries and compare them to the episodes u watched.
