Lyme Park - http://www.uk-tourist-attractions.co.uk/leisure/visit.cfm/l/lyme-park/49359/ - is an eighteenth century Italianate mansion run by the National Trust, south of Manchester near Stockport. The estate is vast, extending to some 1400 acres, and offering some tremendous photo opportunities. The formal gardens include lakes, terraces, herbaceous borders and an orangery. A hill top hunting tower, known as The Cage, offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and into the Cheshire plains.
