A woman saves a neglected dog and is jailed. Tammy Grimes, founder of Dogs Deserve Better, was arrested September 11, 2006 for helping a chained and dying German Shepherd named Doogie in East Freedom, Pennsylvania. This is their story.

The owners and judge should be chained up and left for dead outside in the elements.

If there are people out there who are doing this to their dogs , there will always be people there to save them at any cost , and I don't think 'stealing' should be the word for it !

What the FUCK??? What the fuck is up with that dumbass judge...like to take him out and drown him in a pile of fresh vomit...if there is clear evidence of cruelty, then why does the dog have to take a back seat to an uncaring owner? Just cause it is an animal? What...if anything happened to the man that owned the dog? Good for Tammy sticking to her guns...i would have done the same thing too...and told the justice system to go fuck themselves wanting me to pay for helping an innocent dog

@peatree28 Doogie died peacefull, surrounded by people who loved him, five months after his rescue. The rescue tape and evidence was not allowed to be shown to the jury and Tammy was convicted of theft. She did community time instead of jail because the judge didn't want her to 'be a martyr' for animal welfare. The DA refused to file any animal cruelty charges against the negligent owners.

It would be a cold day in hell before I would leave a dog lay like that. Why can't we chain up the people who neglect their animals ? All animal abusers should rot in hell. Tammy , you got my support for sure. You go girl and I would do the same. I am what the vets call a dog magnet. Where do people think dogs spirits actually come from ? All of my pets had traits of humans that I had known in a previous life. Got a 12' chain for the DA and Judge ? Put them in the mud with spurs in spine.
