Cabana Cachaça held the first annual Bartender Olympics at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans on July 22, 2010. Five teams from across the US competed in three events (the Ultimate Caipirinha speed test, the cachaça knowledge round & the cocktail creativity round) to see who would take home the coveted Golden Muddler. The teams were as follows:

BLACK TEAM (Northeast): Kevin Martin (Eastern Standard, Boston), Justin Noel (Empire Rooftop Hotel, NYC), Candice Coy (Surf Lodge, NY), Moses Laboy (Five & Diamond, NYC), Tim Cooper (Co-Captain), Josh Durr (Co-Captain)

YELLOW TEAM (Midwest): Josh Pearson (Sepia, Chicago), Matt Seiter (Sanctuaria, St. Louis), Lynn M. House (Blackbird, Chicago), Debbi Peek (Bristol, Chicago), Charles Joly (Co-Captain), Tim Lacey (Co-Captain), Ted Kilgore (Co-Captain)

GREEN TEAM (Southeast): Julio Cabrera (Viceroy, Miami), Robert Ortenzio (Senora Martinez, Miami), John Lermayer (Florida Room, Miami Beach), Tommy Merolla (Living Room, Miami Beach) Gabriel Orta (Co-Captain), Elad Zvi (Co-Captain)

BLUE TEAM (West Coast): Jason Bran (Roger Room, LA), Julian Cox (Rivera, LA), Josh Harris (15 Romolo, SF), Scott Baird (15 Romolo, SF), Walter Moore (Co-Captain), Alex Straus (Co-Captain)

RED TEAM (South/Home Team): Adam "Rex" Scott (Napoleon's Itch, NOLA), Cole Newton (Coquette Bistro & Wine Bar, NOLA), Jeff Boley (Paggi House, Austin), Joseph Mykal Le (Aka Sushi House, Houston), Ricky Gomez (Co-Captain), Bill Norris (Co-Captain)

In the end judges Francesco LaFranconi, Bridget Albert and Jared Brown reviewed the creative cocktails and tallied their scores as the crowd and teams anxiously awaited the final verdict - all while enjoying Authentically Brasilian Cabana Cachaça cocktails, of course! Mayhem erupted as Cabana Founder Matti Anttila announced the winner of the Golden Muddler ... the Blue Team! Congratulations - your mixology skills and cachaça knowledge are unmatched. We look forward to watching you defend your title next year!

Who will win the second annual Cabana Cachaça Bartender Olympics? Join us at Tales of the Cocktail 2011 and see who will take home the Golden Muddler!
