John Hollis of Quicksilver was inspired by many of the classic arcade coin-ops. He had however, added his own personal touches to each adaptation he wrote. Space Intruders was one of the Spectrum's best versions of Space Invaders. Meteor Storm, his version of Asteroids, had speech and great effects. Hollis made amazing use of the Spectrum's sound abilities, which compared to other machines, was very limited.
Unlike Malcolm Evans, Hollis adapted mostly the arcade classic to the ZX Spectrum, and this game, Timegate, was an adaptation of Space Raiders from Atari. It again had its own style of game play, and for 1983 was one of the true ZX Spectrum classic games, and one of the earliest of the 3D genre.
