I can't remember where I got this, but thought it was pretty cool. You can see that all the RWD C body cars were built on the same line.

  • Actually the Eldorado was a FWD car.

  • True but the C-body was not, that's what I was referring to. The Eldo-Toronados were E-bodies.

  • Agreed. The Genral began to loose his way here, with the results being todays headlines.

  • Somewhat true, but it's mostly due to consumer perception rather than actual "junk" being built. It really depends on models as opposed to manufacturers. The large RWD cars and trucks were exceptional vehicles while the smaller FWD counterparts weren't very good.

In addition, pretty much all vehicles built in the 70s had the same build quality, foreign or domestic. FWIW, today the GMT900 trucks have superior build quality, even taking the new Tundra into comparison.

  • What a car!

    Great vid, Thanks for uploading!

I wish i could have got one when they were brand new (I couldnt because im only 13!)

  • I wasn't even born until well after this vid was taken...but now I have a similar car...lol

  • LONG LIVE CADILLAC'S

  • I have a 1975 Grandville w/60,000 miles on it. It is a very reliable car and has been pampered it's entire life but the build quality is like the Eldorado convertible-not very good. The fit and finish are really poor compared to GM cars today. Does'nt mean I don't love it though:)

  • Note how its made in America.

  • I worked for GM then and can still remember the door gaps being wide enough to practically crawl though not to mention watching the water spray through the window seals when driving through a car wash! Sad to say these cars were just big beautiful shoddy made pieces of crap...

  • The guy at 0:14 looks like he'd rather be smoking a joint than assembling a Caddy ;)

  • I like how they assemble it "One Piece at a Time" ;)

  • I worked for a large GM dealership in Oregon at the time and remember after a night of heavy rain we would have to suck the water out of them with a wet/dry vacuum the next morning! They were also plagued rattles and paint problems, you could see the primer showing through below the belt line on most of them because the painters didn't want to stoop that low.

  • after75 cadillac went to shit. tomuvh plastic and rubber that dosnt last

  • Yea i have a 1976 cadillac Eldorado 8.2 liter 501 c.i. ( click on name to see)

  • What years was the bad years for the Cadillac Eldorados in the 1970's.
