- So I was trying to figure out what is the best way to get this Trophy.. and figured it out.

Whip is the key since it has a nice long range (unlike the Sword/Gun/Melee) and has a higher chance of hitting the tentacles along the way down.

So there you go, this is the best way to earn the trophy when you play the game!

PS - As for an added bonus.. we get to experience some whipping with Joy too!
They were unexpected.. plus I rarely use the whip so my lack of combo experience shows.

Seriously, almost the biggest waste of time since anything.

As for the video, all I can say is "huh". I never even thought of using weapons to take out the tentacles. I just kept restarting until I smashed through every single one feet-first.

@emceetem. You are right on with your comment, and I wish PlayStation would institute some kind of score that was associated with your achievements. (ie. gamerscore) so that achievement whores with PS3's could have a comprehensive rating!
