Portal: The Cake Room LEGIT NO CHEATS (Doesn't work now)

I've decided to explain this more in depth:

The first glitch i use is a variation of the Edge Glitch, Which is where you get next to a portal on its edge by placing it on a corner. When you get next to the portal's edge you'll be transported to the corresponding portals edge, instead of inside the portal. By placing the others portal's edge on a concave edge, this would teleport you outside the walls, which is how i get outside boundaries. Basically i using the portals to transport me from being next to one, to next to the other, instead of through one and out the other. Of course when you find suitable edges to do this with in level 19, they're all too high to reach, so i use a camera to boost my height and reach the edge. Since they patched Portal to where you can't move when out of Boundaries (OoB) you'll immediately be frozen in place, like me.

The next glitch isn't really a glitch but more of a way to bypass the Portal patch. When OoB, if you not standing directly on the level, you'll be stuck. If you jump, you won't be standing on the level and therefore will get stuck. Get it? Well it turns out that you can become unstuck from this by being close to a portal. So if you get stuck, shoot a portal on the ground or wall near you and you'll fall down and regain walking ablities. That's how i get myself unstuck from all the places i get stuck in OoB in the video. Just don't jump again or fall off or else you'll get stuck again. Same works with being next to a wall but with nothing underneath you. Shoot it on the wall below and you fall down to it. I do this at the beginning of the video.

I use these along with level loading techniques to load the next section of the level for the first half of the video, until i get to the final section. Just copy my portal placements and roughly do what i do, it doesn't have to be exact, just close.

The third glitch i use is called the Portal Through Portal. A portal is not a bullet, it actually takes some tangible time to travel out of your gun and hit the wall. And if the wall is far away, it'll take a while. Well what if we shot one portal on a vertical surface far away, the other portal on a vertical surface that you could walk through, poked our heads out of the closer portal, shot another portal through that portal, and quickly exited the closer portal back to where you originally were? Sounds complicated but youre basically shooting a portal through a portal. And you can use this exploit to send a portal to places you could never reach from where you are. I use it to get on top of the main building that over looks the cake room.

The last glitch is the re-entry glitch. This one requires some practice. Basically, you shoot one portal on the ground (technically ceiling,) on top of the area you want to get back in to. Then you jump into. Here's where the skill comes in: You need to angle your View so that when your about halfway through the portal on the ground, you'll be looking at the ground right in front of you and will be able to shoot the portal on the ground to a different location. This has to be done exactly or you'll just fall out through the other portal. If you do it correctly, you'll move the portal before it sends you to the corresponding portal. But that also means your character will be lodged in the wall. The game recognizes this and forces you back on the other side of the boundary, which is what we want. Just watch me do it when i get on top of the cake room. I mess up :)

If you still don't understand, try google. I learned all these tricks from google :P I'll be uploading a portal speed run of mine as well. It's OoB and i average about 14-15 minutes, depending on my luck :P Watch out for it!

there is no secret door. Those videos that tell you to do this, this and that to magically get ported to the top of the red exhaust thing are all products of video editing. They're trying to trick noobs, the "real" way to do it is the one above, and the only alternative is noclipping out of the level.
