  • You should have shown us an example of blue-ray vs. one on dvd.

  • So in a Youtube video that is not HD, I should compare DVD quality with HD quality? Not that easy to pull off. I suppose I could have filmed the TV or something, but that would have meant making an ACTUAL EFFORT! Ew! ^_^

  • uh yeah you can put an mp4 movie onto a cd, with the right compression and pretty minimal quality loss really. not an hd movie but still. What i'm saying is that the disc is not what makes the difference as such, it is the type of data you can fit onto the larger capacity disk.meh.

  • @Gauntletbloggs dvd is 9gb now. and its not just the size Blu-ray uses H.264 which is a WAY better format than what can be put on a DVD. putting H.264 on a DVD would be like putting a Mpeg-4 movie on a CD, it wont work. and blu-ray is passed 50gb now. Sony and Toshiba are working on 100gb and 500gb blu-ray disks.

  • Blu ray=50gb data capacity. dvd=4.7gb data capacity. the difference lies in the resolution/bitrate. the greater amount of storage allows for a higher quality video that would not ordinarily fit onto a dvd.

  • i love the "ooh yeah" part

  • if you want a cheap blu ray just buy a ps3 and you can do more with it than a normal blu ray player

  • LoL "GET BLURAY BASTARDS" lol

  • Haha I love your passion. :)

  • no magnulus who told you that, ther is no advantage in color, suddenly its the colour now, digital is restricted? you mean the colour has restictions because the human eye-cant see more than a few miljoen colors, just keep it real,i am not saying i am the expert but its not a restriction but a reserve.

  • However, film will still have an advantage in colour gamut, since digital is restricted to a certain amount (Usually 32 million colours) while film simply records what's there.

    Just leave it.

  • "Full HD", aka 1080p, is a pixel-based, digital standard. analog film has no pixels, because it's emulsion-based. Polaroid is also emulsion-based, but cannot be compared to the other two because it's a completely different type of film. Studies have been conducted that clearly show "HD" is lower-res than 35 mm, and 70 mm is DOUBLE that again!

There's progress being made, though. 4K HD is on the horizon (though not for the home) which is indeed higher-res than 35 mm.
