Students from Hope Academy of Music and the Arts performing the song "Don't Laugh at Me" during their 2009 showcase performance of "Born for a Reason" at the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater in East Liberty, Pennsylvania. The soloist is Anna Elder, Hope Academy teaching artist.
This song is the anthem for "Operation Respect," a non-profit organization working to assure each child and youth a respectful, safe and compassionate climate of learning where their academic, social and emotional development can take place free of bullying, ridicule and violence. Founded by Peter Yarrow of the folk group Peter, Paul & Mary, the organization disseminates educational resources that are designed to establish a climate that reduces the emotional and physical cruelty some children inflict upon each other by behaviors such as ridicule, bullying and-in extreme cases-violence. For more information about Operation Respect visit: www.operationrespect.org.
Hope Academy students will reprise their performance of "Don't Laugh at Me" with Peter Yarrow on Sunday, June 7 at East Liberty Presbyterian Church: www.cathedralofhope.org.

What a beautiful song! These young kids are so talented! These are the kinds of programs we need for our youth in this country, and I hope everyone supports funding for these kids and others like them. . .
