I'm currently studying for CCNA Voice and this is just a quick video sharing some of the things I'm learning in regard to installing CME. This video goes over some of the basics to install CME

Sorry I had to cut some parts out due to YouTube length limitations, but still should cover everything you need.

  • I have a question, Im using currently Pakcet Tracer 5.3, Ive a problem configuring the NTP server on the multilayer switch that has connected the IP phones, I have whats necessary for the ntp to work but the server wont give me the current time for that switch, and also do you know wh tI have to configure on the ip hones so that they stop displaying on their screen "configuring CM list" ?

  • @Niaggalover Since Packet Tracer is a simulator I'm not sure how accurate the results are. I would suggest GNS3 for better results since it a hardware emulator using real software vs emulating software. With that said, if you have your ntp server configured, remember to add "ntp master" so the switch will function as a server. As far as phones showing "configuring CM List" , that means they are not registering with CUCM or CUCME. Make sure option 66 and/or 150 are set properly on DHCP

  • Hey thanks for the reply. Again, great video series for CME. Highly recommend.

Might consider FXS/FXO, gateway to PSTN config videos. Connecting the CME to PSTN to make actual outside calls would be great [without or even with Unity].

  • @medialook15 No prob. Yeah I plan to have PRI/CAS, FXO, and FXS configuration examples for CME as well as CUCM in the near future.

  • wonderful video. btw who did you buy your support contract from and if you don't mind sharing how much?

  • @medialook15 Thanks! The company I work for is a gold partner with Cisco and I was fortunate enough to get service contract and partner association (as an employee) with my CCO login so I didn't have to pay anything. Prior to that every place I looked for a Smartnet contract was by "request a quote" so I'm not sure how much they actually cost.

Dear please would you tell me any ccna voice simulator that i can use ? likewise for ccnp track we have BosonNetsim & Packet tracer, but unfortunately i haven't found one for ccna voice so please guide me in this regard.

Thanks alot for a very nice video

  • @sadiqsuzi I actually did a video last week, just been having some codec issues trying to get it posted. I'll try to get posted this week but in short, all you need is VMWare on a machine to run CUCM or CUBE and the rest should integrate with your existing environment. My current CCVP lab as 4 phones, 2 IP Communicatiors, a MGCP gateway to a 2801 that has FXO and PRI interfaces for termination. For being on VMware it is decent but i still like CME a lot better! :)

  • this vid is great and please can someone tell me how can I setup a virtual lab for ccnp voice as I did with ccna in gns3 and packet tracer.
