Santa Rosa Cycling Club Terrible Two Double Century 200 Mile Bike Ride

The Terrible Two Double Century is by far the most challenging bike ride I have completed. It features four big big big climbs (and steep steep steep, twisting descents): Trinity Grade, the Geysers, Skaggs Springs, and Fort Ross.
You are pushed to finish under 16:30 to earn the "I DID IT!" t-shirt. Although I feel better after the ride, I think using the compact cranks may have added about a half hour to my finish time. Nevertheless you need to do major hill training to complete this double century.
I recorded over an hour of video with my hand held camera during the ride. I posted 32 minutes of that into four parts in my YouTube chidonchea account.

The Santa Rosa Cycling Club invites you to test yourself on The Terrible Two.

Time Limit: This ride has a mass start at 5:30 A.M. and it officially ends at 10:00 pm (to qualify for an I DID IT! t-shirt), but riders may continue until 11:00 pm to earn California Triple Crown credit. Anyone still on the course after 11:00 pm will not be listed as an official finisher. After 11:00 pm, support on the road and at the finish will be minimal.

This video cracks me up. I'm a local who does this ride for fun every year. Love the part on Skaggs. I always get a good laugh watching newbies exasperation reaching each false summit and false flat. And the shot of eating the great dinner they have in the dark is priceless. That's torture. I'm already back home in Santa Rosa, showered having a good brew

hey, just wanted to say your videos have inspired me to eventually get into centurys and double centurys. Ive only been riding my fixie to work for bout 3 months. Might see you in a century by the end of the year hopefully, go bay area. Also, thank you for posting your vidoes
