"Founding a family" is not a requirement to get married, then why should being of opposite sex be a requirement? Gay people are unable to form sexual attractions for people of the opposite sex, so why should gays be denied one of society's greatest privileges? No heterosexual is forced to enter a gay marriage, thus no one is hurt. Why insist that millions of gays remain unhappy only to please hateful heterosexuals?

The problem with gay marriage is that there is no problem.

@summer20105707 I think referendums are an easy out for politicians who are too cowardly to lead their bases instead of just following opinion polls and targeting their terms as a re-election effort.

Seriously..........do you think that functionally illiterate, uneducated voters should be deciding serious social policy?

You know it's absolutely hilarious that I just had this discussion about democracy not too long ago. My opponent argued that Canada and the United States are democracies and I responded by telling him that there hasn't been a democracy for over 2500 years. "ancient Greece" LOL I believe that referendums would clear up many of the debates in the Judiciary really quickly. Even if your referendum proposal doesn't go through you could have a second one later..

@summer20105707 Referendums are great.....when you live in a Democracy. Here in the USA we enjoy a Constitutional Republic form of government. If civil rights were put to a referendum vote tomorrow in Alabama the "white only" signs would be hung right back up in the same spot they were 50 years ago. Our forefathers were smarter than we give them credit for.....they knew that forcing religious beliefs on a minority group is wrong.

Well if I had it my way there would be referendums on issues like this. Where the people decide it. Not politicians and judges. The results would speak for themselves. But SSM is being promoted by people with their own agenda and that agenda conflicts with alot of peoples beliefs. One way or another I think Miss Prejean has the right to her beliefs and not to be singled and discriminated against on that basis. On the whole I think issues like this are a waste of time.

@summer20105707 Google it.....numerous recent polls indicate that support for ssm turned the corner last year, and is now a majority. Support for ssm is also on an accelerated upward trend. Couple that with the fact that the majority of anti-ssm supporters are elderly........math and mortality tell the truth.

Those who feel justified in their discrimination toward gays have BECOME the despised minority.

Very true.....I understand there is a lot of demand from those who have seen her porno. Not only are Miss Prejean's views unpopular.....they are in the minority. I must be very frustrating for Carrie and those who share her beliefs on discrimination to suddenly find themselves viewed as the despised minority. You reap what you sow.
