@anatol1204 You are wrong, the 16 line is more well balance then the Gibson Hum. Yes the D16 has more bass, alot more balance. Gibson is to tinny, and are very muddy in the bass range. Gibson lack vol. and sustain. You get your vol, and bass from the top bracing. That is why Martin came out with scalloped bracing. Thinner the bracing more the top vibrates. Creating more vol, and deeper tone, with more balance tone. Which in turn gives you a cleaner sound. Heavier the bracing more you lack sound

look..i don t have much experience but i have compared hum with a d - 16 before buying it..from what i understand the equalizer of the guitar is the back bracing mostly..also the top is very important..and from what i notice if one guitar has thicker back brace is more solid and reflects more sound..that isn t always an advance because there is the danger to become too boomy and harsh ..and d 16 was a little bite..To me hum was less strong but more balanced..thats my opinion sorry if i am wrong.

@anatol1204 You are very confused,of what a guitar is suppose to sound like. Go Google it and read up on it. I'm not saying this to be rude or mean.

@anatol1204 From your statement you wouldn't understand the difference. I own Martins, and wouldn't own a Gibson even if it was free. Age means more open sound, deeper bass. New means tighter, lack of sound and less deep bass. So go plug in your pick ups it doesn't matter. You don't know what a guitar is suppose to sound like.

@4runner39 is yours an old one? and i meant the texan :)
Hey man that stuff you were playing at the beginning was awesome 0:23 to 1:20, did you write that or was it a song that was already written? Beautiful guitar and sound. Thanks for sharing.

@farmermufler912 it's actually a Jeff Beck song from an old album called Rough & Ready (1970)...it should probably be played without a capo & w/a Les Paul ideally LOL

i think that the old hums have a little lack of bass..maybe new ones sound tighter but better have you done the comparison?

@anatol1204 I haven't played a lot of new Hummingbirds to be honest....I played a 1968 Hummingbird & it was probably the best sounding old Hummingbird that I ever played..to be honest I think that the J45's sound a little better
