@strigon11 no, but damned sure you've never served, either.

@zSNIP3DOWNz Ohh. BTW did you ride in a humvee or insert by Black hawk?

@strigon11 there's no such thing as "task force rangers". there's Army Rangers, and there's Task Forces comprised of different elite units, but no "task force rangers". a .22 is THE smallest round out there, not to mention it wouldn't penetrate even Level 1 plate inserts. the goggles most soldiers in the desert wear are rated to -at least- hold up to a .22 shot, some even shotguns from a few yards away. if he was unfortunate, it barely got through his IBA, maybe broke skin, nothing deadly.

@ShankHA32 When Gordon "Gordy" and Shugart approached the crash site there were hundreds of somali militiamen already converging on the crash site and they pulled Durant out of the Black hawk with two broken legs and a broken back. After some time(though it is controversial) Gordon was hit in the head and Shugart took Gordy`s CAR-15 and gave it to Durant. He then returned to the downed helicopter too hold the somalis off, it didnt sucseed and after some time he was overwhelmed and killed.

@ShankHA32 You must be thinking about Mike Durant, the pilot of Super six four, the second Black Hawk to get shot down. There were to Delta Force snipers that were inserted near his crash site to establish a perimeter to check for survivours and to protect the crash site. General William Garrison wasnt too happy about and denied their first request before they went in, but at last he made it up to the pilot of their helicopter and the pilot approved it.
I had a speaker come into our school last year for veterans day, and he was one of the men involved with the events of "Black Hawk Down"
He told a lot of war stories, but the specific story about 2 men who went to a downed chopper to check for survivors, and were overwhelmed and killed for their heroism was tragic. Both were awarded the Medal of Honor.
