Banks spend huge amounts of money and time trying to sell themselves as socially responsible and environmentally sustainable companies. But if they continue heavily investing in polluting power, it doesn't matter how many trees they plant, envelopes they recycle or green lightbulbs they install -- the damage caused by their coal investments is already too great.
Lol....and if they didn't finance any mining companies or projects, people in australia wouldn't be living so nicely. The country is reliant on coal exports...take that away and you might as well label it as a 3rd world country. Mining is everything in australia. yes, efforts should be made towards renewable energy. That being said...if the banks didn't finance these projects, a lot of people in this country would be out of jobs. Mining saved the country from ending up like the USA in the GFC.

Another great reason to "spank your bank" and spread a strong message- there is power in numbers!
