Maris The Supergal Video 1 Clip 1/5

One of my favorite old anime videos. Splitting into 5 clips because of the 10-minute limit. Sorry about the crappy quality. It's a 10+ year old vhs recorded in EP mode. I did my best to improve the EQ of the audio, and apply some video enhancements. Japanese with English subtitles.

Takes me back to when animé as a whole was just a lot better. The funny stuff was funnier, the dark stuff was darker, and the music was much more catchy.

@trilldeth I know it is on laserdisc, still can get it for about 25. and very easy to find the vhs, I haven't heard of a DVD release.

made a detailed comment on ep 5/5 here but fyi theres a clear LD drop version of this on Veoh. youll need the Veoh Web Player to view it.. which was a bit of a fuss to install. you need to enable all Cookie readers before/after installing VWP to make it fully functional. Veoh version is very clear also due to the fact theres no subtiltles, & the audio is a bit distorted tho not bad. watch it once here for story in English & maybe Veoh if you kno how to use tool u can dld your own version etc.

explainin the Chojo part..this was originally called Za Chojo as u may see in the openin credits. Chojo is derived from Cho-jin which refers to 'super-human' & era wise id say Kinniku-man (Kid Muscle) was really takin this term to the limit. Rumics wantin their fair feminist share..invented the word Chojo, which as mentioned also means the eldest girl of family. English release was literally 'Supergal' tho immediately conflicted with the Superman people & was then changed into Maris the Supergal

my bad was readin the year for its comic release being 1980.. this was converted into anime round 1986.. round the same time UY movie #3 came out id guess, which was by far the one & only UY Movie i really enjoyed.. but tbh Maris kicks Lums ass anyday. interestin to see it as Ran-chans alter-ego tho..or much crazier sister since they are both referred to as 'vampire'　as is. shame its only an one ova explosive story..anime & expressionism is top notch.. guess this is what they mean by a bombshell

Maris sounded like Mononoke-hime for a sec but its Mami Koyama-san, who duz all sorts of funky roles such as Arare from Dr.Slump. Chojo is actually a pun since the eldest girl in a family is called the chojo. an ova done b4 'ethical' people began chainin anime down..just like those power-restraints Maris wears. can see why shes always broke tho..shes prolly in debt from her destruction..funny how she wears a ￥ mark. humiliatin its own species..the japanese tourist..in field day for StarWars fans

wow yuh this is unbelievable.. despite bein an avid Rumics fan i didnt know any of this stuff was created. i did have the Rumics comic edition of this in the special edition (although it got thrown away by uncaring parents) didnt think theyd go this far to make an dynamic anime of it which seems dun in 1980ish, so still very much in the dawnin of UrYa. also just discovered Laughing Target & the Rumic Theatre here in the past few days.. what a Halloween treat its been indeed. thx 4yall kindness!
