Last Friday the bearings in the rear wheel were coming apart too much for me to continue up the highway to Coldbrook Campground so I turned around and walked all the way back home.

Today I extracted ball bearings from another wheel, extracted a spoke, and took apart the wheel, cleaned it up spotless, repacked the bearings in briughtly gay red greese, rounded out the wheel with a screw driver and lots of time, and now the puppy is back to useable.

Now I should add some breaks since coming down the mountain at 40 mile an hour at night without lights, helmet, and breaks is kind of dangerous.

  • you took it all apart with the tools you got there? bwahahaha

  • @HighAway Yep, only a few tools. That hub insert tool cost me a lot of money. Yeesh!

  • I saw a guy cycling around town the other day. His bottom bracket was completely shot. It was so bad that his bike would change gear depending on which foot was going down!!!!!!!!!! It should be illegal to have a bike in that bad a condition!!!!!!!!

  • @n1ck3o7 Good grief. Changing gears -- LOL! That's horrible.
